Digett + Olivia Alice · v2

Your website project,
in one place

Everything you've asked for since October 9, grouped by topic, and now updated with what we decided on our October 23 call. The plan: launch with the full catalog in November, get one product of each kind working end to end before loading the rest, and hand each product line to you for review once it's done.

00What we decided on Oct 23

The short version of our call. Details are in the sections below.

  • Full catalog at launch. With the spreadsheet import, the number of products isn't the problem. What adds time is differences in how products display, their variants, and how they ship.
  • New clients come first. In your words: "There isn't going to be any shoppers if there's not new clients."
  • Shipping: one flat rate of about $6.99, and free shipping on orders over about $100.
  • Sales tax is settled. Shopify handles it.
  • Drop shipping happens behind the scenes (Face Reality and Hale & Hush only). You decide how each order gets fulfilled; the customer never has to.
  • Sold-out products will show your affiliate link so shoppers can still order from the manufacturer.
  • Restricted products will be ready at launch, using the hdskindallas.com approach: anyone can read about the product, you log in to buy it, and there's a button to book a consultation.
  • Digett finishes each product line, then hands it to you. You review it and make small changes yourself (tags, collections). No need to send corrections as you spot them.
  • Tasks move to ClickUp, so you can see exactly where everything stands.
  • Target: launch in November. Next week is full speed on our side.

01What you said the site is for

In your own words. You confirmed on our call that bringing in new clients matters most, and that the products are there so you can support those clients.

My primary goal is achieving a searchable online presence to attract new clients, in a more traditional fashion vs social media.Your first email, Oct 8
I think primary is getting new clients, because there isn't going to be any shoppers if there's not new clients. Our call, Oct 23
Selling the products is so that I can support people if they do have a skin concern, and it's so that I can be able to afford to keep doing what I do.Our call, Oct 23
Goal 1 · First priority
Attract new clients

Get found in search, explain your services, build trust with reviews and photography, and make booking easy. That includes the consultation button on restricted products.

Goal 2
Sell retail products online

Sell the full catalog, with local pickup by appointment, shipping from your own stock, or drop shipping from the brand.

02Store foundations

The business rules the store needs before it can take real orders. Most of these were settled on our call.

How each product gets to the customer
Decided
There are three ways an order can be fulfilled: local pickup, shipping from your stock, and drop shipping. The customer never has to choose between shipping and drop shipping. In Shopify, each product is marked as "in stock and drop ship" or "drop ship only," and you decide how to fulfill each order. Only Face Reality and Hale & Hush drop ship. You'll place drop-ship orders with the brand yourself.

Face Reality inventory rules

  • Track inventory separately for each size
  • Offer pickup only for the exact sizes you stock and have on hand
  • When a stocked size sells out, it stops offering pickup but can still be drop shipped
Local pickup is by appointment
Decided
Because you work by appointment, customers who choose pickup will contact you to schedule a time. Checkout and order confirmations will say so.
Orders that mix drop-ship and in-stock items
Outline coming from you
You'll decide these case by case. You plan to reread the advice from the Colorado store owner (the "first responder") and send a simple outline to work from.
Examples you gave on the call
  • 4 Face Reality items, 2 of them in stock: drop ship all 4 rather than splitting the order.
  • 2 Colorescience items plus 2 Face Reality items you don't stock: drop ship the Face Reality and ship the Colorescience yourself. Shopify allows two tracking numbers on one order.
Shipping rates
Nearly final
One flat rate for every order, about $6.99, plus free shipping over $100 (you were also weighing $150). We'll set it up with these numbers, and they're easy to change.
How you arrived at these numbers
  • Most store owners you know charge about $7. Face Reality recently lowered its rate to $6, and some vendors charge $15.
  • Colorescience offers free shipping at $75 on its own site. With several vendors, you need a slightly higher threshold.
  • You don't want a different price for every product: "Sometimes you just have to eat your cost in certain ways."
  • A flat fee can also nudge shoppers to add another item to their order.
Sales tax
Settled
Shopify calculates it. At your volume, you won't need to collect out-of-state tax, and Shopify will let you know if you ever cross a state's threshold.
Sold out? Show the affiliate link
Decided
When a product is sold out, its page will offer your affiliate link ("Order directly from the manufacturer") right where the shopper is looking. Shoppers rarely go looking for an affiliate link on their own. Your shop stays the first choice. This applies to Colorescience, GlyMed, and Roccoco, and the broken Colorescience link will be replaced with the correct one.
Note on drop-shipped products
Screenshot coming from you
A short line on drop-ship-only items, such as "Ships directly from the manufacturer, please allow X days." You're sending a screenshot of wording you liked on another site.
Restricted products (clients only)
In progressCurrent list from you
This is a Face Reality requirement for carrying the brand, not just a preference, so it will be in place at launch. Restricted products will either have purchasing locked or stay off the site until it is. Face Reality's list is shorter now, but you may keep some previously restricted products locked anyway for your clients' safety.
How it should work (model: hdskindallas.com)
  • Anyone can view the full product page, including the description, ingredients, and benefits.
  • The buy button is replaced with "Log in to purchase", and approved clients enter a code. On hdskindallas.com, see a Face Reality product such as the 15% Mandelic serum.
  • Add a "Requires a consultation — Book now" button that goes to your GlossGenius booking, and mention that you offer virtual and in-person consultations. Ideally it opens the consultation service directly rather than the general booking page.
  • Like other products, it can show "Pickup available" or the drop-ship note.

Mark is researching the Shopify app mentioned in Face Reality's gating guide. sarahpierceaesthetics.com is no longer the model, because it sends visitors to a passcode page before they can read about the product.

From: our call (Oct 23), "Smaller launch" (Oct 20), "Information regarding restricted products" (Oct 20)

Test orders
Next week
We'll run full test orders for each kind of product (standard, sizes, shades, drop ship only, restricted) and each fulfillment method before loading the rest of the catalog.
Inventory counts
You, after products load
You'll enter on-hand quantities yourself once the products are in. You know the numbers, and it's quick to do in Shopify.
Sending drop-ship orders to vendors automatically
After launch
Shopify may be able to send drop-ship orders to vendors automatically, but it would take extra setup and cost. For now, you'll place them yourself.

03Product page design

How product pages look and work in your Shopify theme. We'll get one example of each kind working and approved before copying the pattern to the rest.

Collapsible sections for product details
In progress
Description, Benefits, Key Ingredients, and Full Ingredients appear as expandable sections, modeled on ccskin.studio and styled with your fonts. Claudia had this working with plain text. It stopped displaying when the fields were switched to formatted text (for bullets and similar formatting). Mark is fixing that next.
One listing per product, with a size menu
In progress
One listing per product with a size dropdown, "Starting at $XX" pricing, and the price updating when a size is chosen. Claudia has this working on some Hale & Hush products, and the same setup will be used across brands.
Shade selection with images
Mark to set up
Shoppers choose a shade on the product page (Colorescience), with an image for each shade. Your organized image folders will make this quicker.
Bundle discount: Lip Enhancer + Hydrating Lip Balm
Decided
15% off when both GlyMed lip products are bought together. This should be possible with Shopify's built-in automatic discounts.
Collections and groupings (e.g. Best Sellers)
You'll handle
You found that rearranging collections in Shopify is easy, so you'll do this yourself.

04Products by brand

The full catalog goes into the launch. Claudia is building the product data in spreadsheets for bulk import, which is much faster than editing one product at a time in Shopify. When a brand is finished, we'll hand it to you to review. Open a brand to see everything you've sent for it.

Hale & HushIn progress▶

Mostly entered. The remaining work is the tabs and page layout. This will likely be the first brand we hand to you.

Requested changes
  • Remove Quiet Wash 16.9 oz (not a retail size)
  • Remove Remedy Rehab Oil 4 oz and add the 1 oz at $48, with the correct 1 oz image
  • Combine Quiet Wash into one listing: 3.3 oz $26, 6.2 oz $40, and do the same for any other duplicates
  • Refine Polish: new image, $34
  • Add Hydro Melon Cream, $56
  • Add Trifecta Retail Kit, $80
  • Ingredients tab on every product
  • Skip the masks and other retail kits on the price sheet
  • Pickup for items you carry; drop ship when you're out

Face RealityFull line▶

Every Face Reality retail product will be listed. The ones you stock offer pickup and shipping; the rest are drop ship only. This is the most complex brand, because of per-size pickup and restricted products.

Full-line requirements
  • Compare facerealityskincare.com with your site and add the missing retail products (for example, Barrier Gel Cream and Active Clarity Gel Pack)
  • Make sure names, sizes, descriptions, and prices are accurate
  • Leave out all back bar products and sizes
  • Individual products only, no bundles
  • Products you don't stock should never show as unavailable just because you don't carry them

Relyt is discontinuing its roll-on aromas, and tea partnerships reopen in November with new packaging and pricing. You'd like to sell your remaining retail stock, and you're still deciding whether to keep retailing the tea.

05Site content

This is the part of the site that brings in new clients. You couldn't find where these pages are edited in Shopify, so Digett will handle them. You're welcome to learn how if you'd like.

Body wrap section: copy and reviews

For many years, even before opening Olivia Alice, Kelly helped countless clients, including military members preparing for their required tape tests.

Kelly believes in honesty and transparency. While body wraps are not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle or a permanent weight-loss solution, they can be a valuable tool for those looking for an extra boost of confidence before a military tape test or event. We highly recommend a series of wraps when time allows.

Professional service and knowledge helped me meet new service requirements with a body wrap.JK
Excellent ServiceMonica

Please note: Body wrap appointments are limited as Kelly continues to dedicate much of her schedule to skincare, therapeutic bodywork, and wellness services. Body wraps remain a valued part of her offerings, and we encourage booking in advance to secure your appointment.

Booking links
Nice to have
"Book now" buttons already open your GlossGenius booking page. It would be better if each one opened the matching service, such as a consultation, instead of the general booking page.
Photography and page layout
After the shop works
Your favorite photos are in hand (for reference only so far). We'll decide placement together at an in-person session once the shop is working, so you can point to exactly where each photo should go.
Blog posts
You'll handle
Posting a blog in Shopify is mostly a matter of uploading content, so you plan to do this yourself.

06Working together

How we'll work from here on.

  • Tasks live in ClickUp. Mark will break this page into specific tasks and invite you. You can sign in with your Google account, see where everything stands, and comment on any task. Claudia's questions and updates go there too.
  • Handoff by product line. When we finish a brand, we'll tell you. You review it and make small changes yourself (tags, collections, wording) once you've seen how one finished product is set up. Anything you can't fix, ask us.
  • No need to send corrections as you find them. Wait for each handoff instead, so changes don't overlap.
  • Claudia can show you around Shopify whenever you'd like to take on more. She's a good teacher, and her rate is lower.
  • Time and work report. Mark will send what's been done to date so you can see progress against hours.
  • Nothing else is needed from you right now beyond the short list below. We'll reach out as soon as we need something.

07Path to launch

Target: launch in November. There may be a few surprises along the way, but we expect to be able to work around them.

1

Next week: get the setup working

Fix the collapsible sections, set up shades and restricted-product purchasing, and configure shipping, pickup, and drop-ship profiles. Prepare the catalog spreadsheets. Run end-to-end test orders for one product of each kind.

2

Load the full catalog

Import brand by brand once the test products work.

3

Hand each brand to you

You review it, make small changes, and enter inventory counts.

4

Client-facing content

Page corrections, bio, team statement, reviews, and the consent form. Then an in-person session for photography and layout.

5

Final tests, then launch

One last round of test orders, then go live.

+

After launch

Booking buttons that open the matching service, sending drop-ship orders to vendors automatically if it's worth the cost, Relyt (depending on your decision), and your blog posts.

08Still needed from you, but not immediately

No rush, and nothing else for now. Send these whenever they're ready.

  1. The current Face Reality restricted-product list, plus any other products you'd like to keep locked anyway.
  2. A short outline for orders that mix drop-ship and in-stock items, based on the first responder's approach.
  3. Confirmation of the shipping numbers: $6.99 flat rate and free shipping over $100 (or $150).
  4. The screenshot of drop-ship wording you liked.
  5. Your list of corrections for existing pages.
  6. Roccoco products and inventory, once their stockist site is back.
  7. Later: inventory counts, once each brand is handed to you.
